The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is the public technological research organization working in four main areas : low-carbon energy, defence and global security, information and health technologies, and large research facilities. Building on excellence in fundamental research and on recognized expertise, the CEA takes part in organizing cooperation projects with a wide range of academic and industrial partners. With its 16,000 researchers and employees (more than 1500 PhD students and 300 post-docs), it is a major player in European research and is also expanding its international presence. The CEA has a budget of 4,3 billion euros and is based in ten research centers in France, each specializing in specific fields. CEA Tech is the technology research unit including three labs—Leti, Liten and List. It has been working very actively towards very low power sensor networks for Internet of Things (IoT) towards zero power. This includes research in new technologies for sensors, energy harvesting, low power communication, sensor networks and deployment of IoT solutions at a large scale. CEA TECH has a very strong expertise in international projects, with a large portfolio of European research projects and collaborations.
